Carolyn M. Jurkowitz
Executive Director

Carolyn Jurkowitz was named Executive Director of the Conference December 1, 2007. Carolyn came to the staff of the Catholic Conference as associate director (Department on Education) in 1988. Prior to joining the Conference, she served in the Diocese of Columbus, as assistant superintendent of schools from 1979 until 1986, and acting superintendent of schools from 1986-87.

A native of Boston, she taught in secondary schools in St. Louis and Brunswick (OH), was principal of Newark Catholic High School and the (now closed) St. Benedict Academy in Erie (PA), and was an adjunct instructor at Xavier University in Cincinnati from 1980-2000.

Carolyn has degrees from Case Western Reserve University, St. Louis University, Loyola University of New Orleans, and the University of Akron. She is a former member of the Commission on Accrediting for the Association of Theological Schools, where she continues to act as a consultant. She is a staff chaplain at Mt. Carmel West Hospital in Columbus and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish also in Columbus.
