Remembering Frank Maraffa
12/17/1926- 9/23/2009

Frank served for 20 years as Exhibitor Manager for both the OCEA and Title 1 Conferences.
He was devoted to God, his wife, Mary, and his family.
He is remembered for his charm, humor, and professionalism.
Frank was a valued colleague and friend.
May his soul rest in peace.



DATES AND LOCATION

The 2009 Ohio Catholic Education Association  (OCEA) Convention will take place Thursday and Friday, October 8-9, 2009 in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Duke Energy Center (downtown Cincinnati convention center).

Please note that there is an Ohio Christian Education Association website, ocea.org. This site indicates that the Christian OCEA convention has been postponed. Please do not confuse this site with our Ohio Catholic Education convention. We look forward to your attendance this October in Cincinnati.


LITURGY

The 2009 OCEA Convention will open at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, with a Eucharistic liturgy concelebrated by the Bishops of the participating dioceses.


REGISTRATION

On line registration is now closed. Registration is available on site, October 8 & 9, at $150.00 per person

To register you will need your school or parish's 9-digit federal tax identification number. The person who prepares your parish or school payroll will have this number. If you are in the Diocese of Covington, please call Ray Hildebrand at (859) 392-1531 and he will give you the number to be used for your school.


KEYNOTE SPEAKER           

Mike Carotta

 

Keynoting the 2009 OCEA will be Dr. Michael Carotta.  Mike has worked with adolescents for over thirty years in educational, pastoral, and clinical settings. He spent eleven years as a classroom teacher, including four years working with at-risk youth at Girls and Boys Town and is the former Executive Director of the NCEA Department of Religious Education.  He is the author of numerous books and resources for young people.  Mike’s keynote, “Fishing the River,” is sponsored by Harcourt Religion

PROGRAM

The 2009 OCEA features over 300 presentations by regionally and nationally recognized presenters; teachers, principals, and other Catholic school educators; pastors; and staff of OCEA’s participating dioceses. 

Among this year’s speakers are: Ann Anzalone, Mike Carotta, Ohio’s State Superintendent Deborah Delisle, Bena Kallick, Dan Mulhall, Fr. Ron Nuzzi, Joe Paprocki, Jane Reagan, Sr. Mary Angela Shaughnessy, John Roberto, and Project Rachel’s founder, Vicki Thorn.

Friday, October 9 from 8 AM to 2 PM. There will be over 130 exhibitors! Please stop in!
